Meet Dr. Gelman
Pediatric Dentistry brings me so much joy! I love being able to make a meaningful impact on the lives of my patients and their families. I love being able to communicate effectively with our families about all things related to pediatric oral health. I truly love motivating families to make dental health a priority and always in a fun, relatable, and engaging way!
I love kids and I love that I spend my days around energetic, dynamic, ever-growing and changing young people who keep me on my toes. I especially love when we are able to give kids a stellar experience at the dentist. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a child go from fear to delight when they are in our office!
Our Team and Office
Our team is really centered on making the experience great for kids and their families, from the moment they walk in our door. Everyone on our team has a passion for working with kids and excels at connecting with our patients in a supportive and fun way. Their exceptional communication skills, and dedication to helping children and parents feel at home, go a long way toward ensuring great dental visits!
Our office is a warm and caring environment, where we take time to get to know the kids and their families, and learn what they need and expect. With a focus on positive, painless visits, useful patient and parent education, and tailoring each visit to the child’s specific needs, we provide an awesome experience!
Education and Experience
I have been practicing for over 20 years and have loved every day of this amazing profession. Growing up in Reading, Massachusetts, I always knew that I wanted to work with children. It wasn’t until I was in college, though, when a friend put the thought of going to dental school in my head, that I’d considered pediatric dentistry as a career. I had always had really positive dental experiences growing up, but I never even thought that a woman could become a dentist!
I attended Barnard College of Columbia University, for my undergraduate studies, and then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. In 1998, I finished dental school with my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Next, I was accepted into a competitive pediatric dentistry residency program at The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo/SUNY at Buffalo. In 2000, I received my Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.
As a pediatric dentist, I really love technological advances that help to make our practice of dentistry better for children. I love providing comprehensive care to children of all ages and am thrilled when an initially anxious child finishes a visit full of smiles, telling their parents, and us, that they can’t wait to come back!

Beyond the Office
Away from the office, you can find me with my husband, Shimon, and children Ari and Avital. I love to cook and bake, do all kinds of arts and crafts projects, read, and listen to music. I also love walking all over Manhattan, and I really love spending time outdoors with family and friends.
In the Community
Outside of my profession, I am passionate about causes that are important to me and especially those that are dedicated to making the lives of children better. I am very involved in our family’s synagogue and my children’s school and summer camp. My husband and I are also very involved in the wonderful organization Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, which helps provide funding for clinical trials of treatments for pediatric cancers.
